Christian Science church services were first held in Saugatuck in 1910 in the local Interurban Railway Station. The members held services in homes from 1912 to 1915. In 1916 they rented a hall over Kroning’s Hardware store and began holding both Sunday Services and Wednesday Evening Testimony Meetings.
In November 1920 the Society was admitted as a branch Society of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1921 the Society purchased the present site of the church building. The cornerstone was laid on June 24, 1924 and services began in the completed building in the following December.
Sunday School was started in 1930, classes being held in the auditorium before the Sunday service.
The church building became debt free and according to tradition was dedicated with two services on July 10, 1937 with over two hundred friends from the surrounding area.
The Christian Science Reading Room and the Sunday School were established in the remodeled lower level beginning in 1966 and completed in 1973.
